In cased you have missed it I will start from June the 20th when Google posted this blog entry starting they had sent the FCC a letter requesting they implement open standards with the 700mhz band that will soon be up for auction.
Well today Google has put their money where their mouth is, and stated they will put up an initial bid of $4.6 billion dollars for the FCC to inherit these open standards. They have set the bid at $4.6 billion dollars, because this is the reserve price the FCC has set on the auction. This will give the FCC no reason to not inherit these standards, because now they can rest assured the spectrum will be sold even with the open standards. Google is also not stupid, because they know they will be outbid on the auction, or getting the spectrum for the reserve price would be a steal and open them to many possibilities as a wireless provider.
So now we have to sit and wait for the FCC to respond to Google's latest offer.

Adsense Expands Referrals

Google has expanded the Adsense referrals program to include many other products. The image posted in the Adsense blog shows categories such as automotive, photo & video, and travel to name a few. Previously the only option you had for referrals were Google products or Firefox, and this isn't going to appeal to someone, for example, on a cooking site.
Options are not available to all Adsense accounts as of yet, but they should be rolled out to everyone very soon according to the blog post.

Dell Puts on Makeup

Yesterday Dell announced they would be offering multiple colors in their Inspiron line of notebooks. The folks at Dell must really be struggling they have strayed so far away from what made them the massive pc maker they are today. There are really a few reasons Dell is struggling, and the lack of a pink notebook was not one of them.
The home support division of Dell being outsourced to other countries has really hurt them. One of the great thing about Dell about 6 years ago was their tremendous support. If anyone had any issues they could call get knowledgeable technician, who was not reading a script and quickly get the help they needed. The reason for the move to outsourced support is obvious, but to me this really hurt their image with many consumers.
Quality of the systems hasn't really changed over the years. The plastic cases on the laptops still feel really cheap, especially when you compare them to what Lenovo is offering. This can be blamed on the company not changing over the years, and sticking with the same game plan for so long. If anything this new Dell that we have seen lately is trying to be the 50 year old dad who has started to dress like his son. Image is everything for these companies, and Dell is just not the cool kid anymore.
Next up for Dell the hello kitty edition line of notebooks.

MyBlogLog Retaliation
MyBloglog recently unveiled their user generated tagging feature. This is a great feature since it lets other users classify your blog. They also told the community to tag anyone who spams you with the tag SCHMOE. I decided to put these tags on two users that are gaming the system claiming to be someone they are not, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. One other user Louis Gray tagged the identity thefts as well. Now it seems the fake Britney has retaliated marking me as a schmoe, and both fake Paris and Britney have marked Louis as a schmoe.
I'm sure the real Britney and Paris would love to know their names and pictures are being used to promote an SEO blog and vitamin store. I'm going to attempt to contact their publicists, through their real site, and let them know what is going on. I will also be contacting MyBlogLog to let them know of the schmoe retaliation.
If you think it was wrong of these two imposters to mark myself and Louis as schmoes please mark them as schmoes to let the MyBlogLog team know that this type of activity should not be tolerated.
