I no longer have any time to post on Digg. It made me start thinking I have top 30 (active user) account and I'm not even using it anymore. I would be interested if there are any non-profits out there that are looking to get attention for their cause. They would need to frequently be doing activities and have an active web presence. If the right group approaches me I am willing to give them my account. I'm not trying to sell my account I'm thinking of giving it to a non-profit organization contact me at hemphill81@gmail.com if you are interested.

IE7 Goes Gold
Be sure to pick up the final IE7. I installed it at home plan on upgrading at work tomorrow. I haven't found anything wrong with mine yet, but I did just install it. I will say that anything is better than IE6. I'm still going to stick with Firefox though.

New Inform Features
If you haven't heard of Inform you should really check it out. They have added a feature that will generate code for a live news ticker pertaining to a specific search. I added one in the bottom right of my blog that shows all the news and blog post they have found related to Digg. The site reminds me of Google News but I do not like the UI for Google News. The interface of the Inform site is very easy and they are adding some great features.

ASU teams up with Google
Arizona State University is teaming up with Google to offer their students Google Apps for Education. I would expect to see more school join the program now that a big name school has joined. The savings for the school has to be huge, and the Gmail UI is much better than any other school's web-mail UI I have seen.

Google to buy Youtube?
The Internet is buzzing with news that Google might buy Youtube for $1.6 billion dollars. This is huge and I think it would be a good move for both. Youtube is relying on ads and VC money. They have to be getting killed in bandwidth and storage charges so I would figure if they are profitable it can't be by much. Youtube is also kicking Google's rear in video and Google has to know it. The guys at Youtube would be sitting pretty after this deal with a job at Google as well. I know I will be following this one as it develops.

Beta Google Groups
I really like the new Google groups beta. They have really come a long way since they acquired Deja.com. Doesn't seem like 5 years since they acquired them. Gmail has been my free mail choice for quite some time now and I like how they modeled the groups after it. The new feel also kind of reminds me of Microsoft Sharepoint with the ability to upload files. Good feature for the file uploads would be to let users check out the files to edit like they do in Sharepoint.

Geek Squad Now Offering Remote Support
According to this press release the Geek Squad will now be offering remote support. I took a look at their prices and they seem reasonable with most services costing $49. I'm curious as to if this will pay off since they had to hire a 24/7 technical staff (though I'm guessing they are probably not paying well for the remote support jobs.) I also hope they remember to pay for the software this time.

Google Garage on Google Maps
Link: Google garage where it all started
I believe this is the right house, but I am not certain. I found the address on San Francisco magazine. It is pretty amazing when you think about how they started the whole thing from this house.
